Launched on July 21, 2015, the Creta is Hyundai’s first-ever compact SUV in the Indian market. It’s the first car in its league to get an automatic transmission with diesel engine. With high-level of localization (90%), the Creta is manufactured at the Hyundai’s Chennai-based plant, and exported to global markets.

The Creta marks Hyundai India's entry into the fast-growing compact SUV segment that already has some really capable products such as Renault Duster and Nisaan Terrano. Based on the new Hyundai i20's platform, the Creta also shares several of its components with the former. Though it takes its design cues from the Santa Fe.
